Binding Basics for Quilters - 11/8/2025 (Class is Full)

Class Date: Saturday, November 8th
Time: 10:30am - 1:30pm
Your quilt is pieced, quilted and squared up. Now for the binding. If this last step is a bit of a challenge for you, we’re here to help.
This class will cover the steps involved in making and attaching binding to the edge of your quilt. In addition, we will cover how to finish a quilt with facing. Students will be making several bound quilt squares to learn the techniques.
Students need to bring to class:
- Sewing machine in good working order
- A walking foot (optional but handy)
- Basic sewing supplies:
Pins, scissors, marking pen, 6” ruler, thread, extra bobbins, rotary cutter
Fabric preparation:
18” by 18” Quilt squares – Make 2
Note:
- Use solid or read solid fabric for better visibility
- You will need to do some light quilting to hold the layers together
- Square each quilt sandwich up to 18” by 18”
Using a contrasting color fabric, cut your binding strips:
- 5 strips – 2 ½” by the width of your fabric
- 4 – 4” by 4” squares
