Uniform Tunic- 11/13 and 11/20

This tunic is great for the beginner or those who have not made a garment for a number of years.  Choose a neckline, length, choice of sleeveless or sleeves and pockets to make it your own.  Karen will take you through the step-by-step process to complete the tunic.

Supplies needed:
Uniform Tunic Pattern
Fabric - we suggest Robert Kaufman Essex (see our sample) or one of our garment fabrics.  Ask a sales associate to guide you through choices.  Sewing machine, cleaned and oiled and in working condition. Know how to use your
machine! Straight stitching foot, wide opening plate and over edge foot.
Sewing machine needles: 70/10 or 80/12, universal. (For knits, choose ball point,
stretch or jersey needles)
New pins, sharp and long length. Glass head pins are good because you can use the
iron on them and they donʼt melt.
Sharp, fabric scissors
Paper scissors
Hand sewing thread
Thread, neutral color. You can match your fabric if you want. Preferably cotton-
covered polyester. (Buy quality thread and you will be pleased with your results and
have less lint build up in your machine) Isacord, mettler, superior. Gutterman is okay.
Fabric marking pencil of some type, regular pencil or chalk marker
Scotch tape
Straight edge ruler-24”
Post it notes and note pad
Bring your pattern and fabric. Pre wash your fabric if you plan to launder it after it is
finished. I recommend dunking it in lukewarm water, spinning it in your washer and
either drying it on low or hang drying. This certainly depends on the type of fabric
that you buy so be sure to check on the washing recommendations.
