Beginning Quilt Making

April 12, 19, 26  May 3 and 10, 2017

Class Description:

Learn the fundamentals of quilting while creating a table runner from start to finish. 

This 5 week class will cover the fundamentals - fabric preparation, cutting, sewing, pressing and other quilt making techniques.  You will learn how to make 6 basic blocks found in many quilting designs.  You will assemble these blocks into a quilt top, learn how to machine quilt with your walking foot and finally you will bind your runner.

This is a great class for new quilters as well as those who have done some quilting but haven’t taken a class.

Class Description:
Learn how to make this quilt with the Lazy Angle ruler.  If you look close enough you will see there are many different blocks and patterns that emerge from this larger nine-patch block.  Faye will show you how to get the best results with cutting and assembling the individual blocks.  Then we will cover the best tricks to use to sew the nine patch together.
Faye is an intermediate piecer at best.  This class for anyone who finds piecing and assembling different angles together a challenge.Morning_Song.html
Free Motion Machine Quilting

This class is for those who’ve learned to free motion quilt but want to improve their skills and move forward in a more meaningful way.  It is meant to inspire you and teach you how to get more satisfying results.  You’ll learn how to imagine and quilt more intricate, sophisticated designs to complement your pieced or appliqué quilts. Quilt as You Go

Class Description:

Yes - you can quilt a large quilt on your domestic sewing machine.  Without pain!

In this class we will explore four methods of quilting in sections to make a quilt of any size on a domestic sewing machine. 

We will focus on four techniques.  You will create samples of the following:

  1. Stitch and flip quilting

  2. Partially quilting and joining quilt units

  3. Quilting units and adding batting as you go

  4. Assembling your quilted units using sashing

In addition to the four techniques, we will talk about how to make your quilt interesting on both the front and the back, and how to plan a project for quilting as you go.
